CTO - Autonomous Ground Vehicles

Chief Technology Officer, Autonomous Ground Vehicles

Remote, USA, with regular travel to Atlanta | Reports to the CEO | Highly competitive base plus meaningful pre-IPO equity

Driverless vehicles are already working on the airfield at one of the world's busiest airports. The next step is driverless, at many more airports, and this is the person who leads engineering there.

The company

A Bay Area autonomy company retrofitting Level 4 self-driving onto the airport ground vehicles that move bags and cargo around the airside. Its vehicles are live with a major US airline, there's a signed agreement to expand across that airline's North American network, other global carriers are lining up, a European pilot is underway and a Series B is in sight. Same playbook as the best robotaxi programmes: go deep in one hub, prove it, then scale.

The role

You'll lead an engineering organisation of around 60 across autonomy, infrastructure, hardware and software, and own the technical path from today's supervised operations to fully driverless, multi-airport deployment.

What you'll own

  • Technical vision and roadmap to driverless operations across multiple airports and airlines.
  • Scaling the engineering organisation and its leadership bench without losing speed.
  • Safety, validation and the evidence that gets airports, airlines and regulators comfortable with driverless airside.
  • Architecture across the autonomy stack, fleet operations and the cloud and on-prem infrastructure underneath it.
  • Being the technical voice with customers, partners and investors through the next funding round.

What you'll bring

  • Senior engineering leadership in autonomous vehicles, robotics or another safety-critical autonomy domain.
  • Autonomy you've shipped into real production, not just research or prototypes.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams and the credibility to stand in front of investors and enterprise customers.
  • Enough hands-on depth to go into the detail with your principal engineers when it matters.

Why this one

Airport ground handling is a large, overlooked market where autonomy is already earning revenue, and the business has the customer pull to scale fast. You'd be joining at the point where the CTO's decisions shape the whole next chapter.
