Our client is a global leader in PKI, Post Quantum Cryptography and Embedded security solutions for the Financial, Aerospace and Automotive domains, with offices in Boston, Irvine and Prague.

About The Role

They are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with strong Java and Golang experience to help evolve the core services and ecosystem.

You’ll work across Spring Boot microservices and Golang-based services/tools, contributing to architecture, performance, and developer experience in an open-source environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement backend services in Java (Spring Boot) and Golang.
• Build features for certificate discovery, enrolment, renewal, revocation, and policy enforcement.
• Develop and extend REST APIs and OpenAPI contracts used by community plugins.
• Help evolve the platform architecture using modularisation, domain-driven design, and scalable service patterns.
• Lead code reviews, mentor contributors, and maintain high standards for testing and secure coding.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Docker containerisation, CI/CD pipelines, and Kubernetes deployments.
• Contribute to open-source community engagement — issue triage, documentation, demos, and technical content.
• Implement secure cryptographic handling and participate in threat modelling and compliance initiatives (FIPS, eIDAS).

What You’ll Bring

Required Skills

• Strong professional experience in Java and Golang
• Solid knowledge of Spring Boot / Spring Framework
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
• Strong backend engineering fundamentals and design patterns
• PostgreSQL, SQL, and data modelling experience
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving mindset
• Experience with Docker and containerised applications
• Understanding of distributed systems and backend scalability

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of PKI, certificates, or cryptography (ACME, CMP, EST, OCSP)
• Messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or AMQP
• Kubernetes and Helm
• Public CA or HSM integrations
• Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
• Experience contributing to open-source projects or developer communities
