Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Garage / On-Prem)

Design and own the physical compute and networking that keeps a driverless vehicle fleet running, right next to the airfield. Servers, networks and data you can actually touch.

The company

A Bay Area autonomy company putting Level 4 self-driving onto airport ground vehicles. Its fleet is live with a major US airline at one of the world's busiest airports, with expansion across that airline's network signed and a Series B on the horizon. Atlanta is where the fleet lives, and the garage is where it all comes together.

The role

You'll own the on-prem infrastructure in the vehicle garage: designing and standing up the compute, storage and networking, moving large volumes of vehicle data off the fleet and up to the cloud, and getting new software releases safely onto the vehicles.

What you'll own

• Design and build of on-prem compute, from bare metal, racking and BMC through to Linux provisioning and automation.
• Garage networking end to end: physical links, VLANs, routing, DNS and firewalls, and the connection to the cloud.
• Data offload from the vehicles at volume, so engineers get the data they need quickly and reliably.
• Release delivery to the fleet, and the hands-on troubleshooting when something stops working.

What you'll bring

• 7+ years across physical infrastructure, Linux systems and networking, with real hands-on server and network setup.
• Python and Bash, a software and automation mindset, and working C++ (deep C++ not required).
• Background in data centres, edge or telecom infrastructure, fleet or device management, industrial systems or on-prem systems engineering. No autonomy experience needed.
• Happy to be on site in Atlanta five days a week; relocation support and visa sponsorship are available.
