Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Cloud)
Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Cloud)
Remote, USA or UK/Europe | Highly competitive base plus equity
Real-time, safety-critical cloud infrastructure for a driverless fleet that's already working live at a major airport. If you want to own the architecture rather than maintain someone else's, this is it.
The company
A Bay Area autonomy company putting Level 4 self-driving onto airport ground vehicles. It's live with a major US airline at one of the world's busiest hubs, expanding across that airline's network, piloting in Europe and building towards a Series B. The fleet, the data and the number of airports are all about to grow fast.
The role
You'll own the cloud and data pipeline platform behind the autonomy programme: getting vehicle data off the fleet, through the pipelines and into the hands of the engineers who need it, and keeping the always-on services, including remote assistance, running with near-zero downtime.
What you'll own
- Architecture and ownership of large-scale data pipelines handling fleet and sensor data.
- Highly available, low-latency services, including the systems that support remote assistance for the vehicles.
- Cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and observability built to scale with every new airport.
- Technical decisions you can justify, and the cross-functional work with autonomy, hardware and ops teams to land them.
What you'll bring
- 7+ years in software or infrastructure engineering, with genuine ownership of deployed, large-scale data pipelines.
- Strong AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes and Python, with gRPC and Terraform a real plus.
- Experience designing for real-time, high-availability systems where downtime genuinely matters.
- Startup or scale-up energy: you take ownership beyond your own silo. No autonomy or robotics background needed; fintech, adtech, logistics, live tracking and large-scale SaaS backgrounds are all welcome.
Why this one
You'd be building core infrastructure for a product that's already in production, at the stage where the architecture you put in now becomes the foundation for every airport that follows.
