The Opportunity
Akkar is supporting an established international technology business in the appointment of a Technical Sales & Business Development Manager to support its continued growth across the UK and Nordic markets.
The business develops advanced sensing and electronic technology used in a range of industrial, infrastructure and specialist applications. With an established product portfolio and ambitious plans for further expansion, this is an opportunity to join a technically innovative organisation and play a hands-on role in developing new commercial opportunities.
The position combines UK business development with responsibility for identifying and growing opportunities across the Nordic region, offering significant customer-facing exposure and regular international travel.
We are looking for an ambitious, commercially driven individual who enjoys developing new relationships, identifying opportunities and translating technical solutions into commercial success.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, prospect and develop new business opportunities across the UK and Nordic markets.
- Build relationships with OEMs, system integrators, distribution partners and end customers.
- Develop a strong pipeline through proactive outreach, customer visits, networking and market research.
- Understand customer requirements and work with internal technical teams to recommend appropriate solutions.
- Manage the sales process from initial engagement through to technical proposals, quotations, negotiation and contract award.
- Coordinate product demonstrations, technical discussions and customer trials.
- Support the development of new markets, applications and commercial partnerships.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline information and customer activity.
- Represent the business at customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience selling technical products or engineered solutions into B2B markets.
You will ideally bring:
- Experience in technical sales, sales engineering or business development within an engineering-led environment.
- A demonstrable ability to generate new business, develop customer relationships and manage opportunities through to completion.
- Exposure to sectors such as industrial automation, sensors, instrumentation, electronics, measurement technology, machinery or other technical equipment.
- Confidence engaging with engineering teams, technical stakeholders and commercial decision-makers.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to manage your own territory and commercial activities.
- Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Willingness to travel internationally, particularly across the Nordic region.
- A full UK driving licence and the existing right to work in the UK.
An engineering or technical qualification would be advantageous but is not essential. More important is your ability to understand technical products, develop new business and build lasting customer relationships.
Previous experience in radar or sensing technology would be beneficial, but candidates from adjacent technical markets are equally encouraged to apply.
What's on Offer
- Basic salary of £40,000–£50,000, depending on experience.
- Annual performance bonus of 10%.
- Company car.
- Private medical insurance.
- Additional company benefits.
- Hybrid working arrangement with flexible working hours.
- Regular international travel and the opportunity to develop business across multiple European markets.
- A varied, customer-facing role combining new business development with innovative technology.
